If you have been ignoring all of the deals on the Groupon Coupons page for Hotels.com with crazy cheap deals on accommodation in exotic locations which you have always wanted to visit simply because they come with the caveat that you aren’t allowed to take checked baggage, then prepare for an article which will open your world!

Below are some great tips to help you pack everything you need for a weekend away into a carry-on sized travel bag.

A Vacation Is Not the Time for Choice

You don’t want to spend hours on end in your hotel room trying to decide what to wear. Not only will this east into your precious vacation time, it also means that you have taken too many items with you!

When you are packing your bag, stick with the following:

  • One pair of jeans
  • Two t-shirts
  • A collared shirt/polo shirt
  • Four pairs of underwear
  • Four pairs of socks
  • One pair of sneakers

If this seems like too few items to take with you, remember that you will be wearing an entire outfit on the plane and that you will be leaving on Friday night. This means that you can realistically change into an outfit on Friday evening before boarding the plane which you can also wear the next day.

Speaking of Wearing Clothes on the Plane

Of course, how much space you have available depends on the size of the items you take. The best way to combat this is to wear the bulkiest items possible on the short plane ride.

For example, if you are going to a place where there will be hiking, wear your hiking boots on the plane and pack your smaller and flexible sneakers. Similarly, if you are going somewhere cold, consider taking a large jacket as your personal item which accompanies you on the plane.

No Electronics!

Okay, maybe one. You can take your cell phone, and that’s it! Not only is your vacation meant to be enjoyed, but these items add a lot of extra bulk. For example, if you take your laptop then you also need to take the bulky power cable. The same goes for any other tablets or devices you have which will also need power.

Stick with your phone. Realistically, it does everything from contact people when you’re out or to watch movies in the hotel room as you go to sleep.

Nothing Full Sized

The TSA does a great job at limiting what you can take on a plane. Instead of seeing it as a negative, see it as a way to leave a lot of items behind. If there are items which you simply must take, buy some cheap small clean bottles which you can transfer a small amount to use while you are away. Remember that your hotel is likely to have many of the toiletries you will need.

There you have it! Are you surprised to find just how easy it is to get everything you need into a carry on bag? Now that you have this knowledge, it’s time to explore the world!
